Macross Anime NYC panel report

Anime NYC recently ended with a few new details regarding Macross global expansion during Big West short panel.

Macross Frontier English Blu-ray release will start pre-orders by the end of the year, for a 2027 first half release. Macross Delta should follow quickly. We'll see if the French releases through Anime Ltd French subsidiary are still scheduled.

The most interesting slide is the one about streaming on Disney+, right below.

Early 2025 during AX, Big West international strategy producer claimed that they were actively working on expanding content across more regions and languages. It seems that this stance has changed somewhat, since Big West is now kindly putting responsibility on Disney+ for not bringing content worldwide.

What's bothering me is that Big West is the Macross franchise rights owner. It was supposedly their job to make sure Disney+ would stream content worldwide, right before teaming up with the service. So, it wasn't done after all? Or was it done knowingly?

In any case, I think it's pretty clear now that the Macross expansion on Disney+ is over. Content won't show up beyond Asia and English territories on streaming, until a change of service which could happen in many years. It’s also concerning for the upcoming Macross project international simulcast.

Macross contents on Disney+ : more subtitles

It was reported that Disney+ recently added Thai, Malay and Indonesian to the subtitles already available on the service (English, Chinese and Korean), knowing that Macross contents were already streaming in those countries.

Macross contents are currently streaming on Disney+ in more or less 20 countries while the service operates in more than 120 worldwide. It's still unknown when, or even if Big West and Disney+ are planning to expand availability across more regions ans languages (Europe, Latin America, Middle East...).

Macross AX2026 panel report + Anime NYC booth announcement

Big West's annual Macross panel took place a few days ago at Anime Expo. It looks like recording was forbidden this year, so here what was reported for anime content.

Macross II Blu-ray from AnimEigo is aimed to be shipped this summer. English regions only.

Macross Frontier and Macross Delta Blu-rays are supposedly coming this winter, from Anime Ltd. Countries : US, UK, Ireland, France.

No words about the Macross content expansion across more regions and languages Big West claimed to be actively working on last year. Disney+ is still streaming it in Asia and English regions only, meaning Macross sequels are unavailable in more or less 85% of the territories the service is active in.

Also no update about Macross Frontier manga English release that was announced last year.

A Macross booth will be at Anime NYC this August, but no sign of a panel for now.

Alongside booth and panel, Big West announced a special screening of SDF Macross : Do You Remember Love ? at Anime Expo 2026.

Macross at Anime Expo 2026

Big West announced that Macross will be back to Anime Expo this year (AX2026), although they did not specify whether they will hold a panel. New extended booth is claimed.

There was 3 major announcements during AX2025 :

• Macross anime content expansion across more regions and languages;
• Macross Frontier and Macross Delta Bly-ray release in the US/UK/France through Anime Limited;
• Macross Frontier manga release in the US.

Unfortunately none of these came to fruition nor received any follow-up during the past year.

Macross Delta 10th anniversary project

Macross Delta is launching its 10th anniversary through a special video, featuring a newly drawn illustration by character-designer Chisato Mita.

The series is currently streaming on Disney+ in Japan and some Asian and English countries. No word about any expansion in other territories.

A Blu-ray release was announced last July by Anime Limited, in the US, UK, Ireland and France.

Macross 7 4K release (Japan)

A 4K UHD-BD BOX of the entire Macross 7 (TV series,  movie, OVA, unaired episodes...) is announced in Japan for October 2026, if pre-orders reach 2000 copies (which already seems to be the case).

Nothing new on the global side, except for yet another screening of Macross Plus movie edition in Portland Hollywood Theater.
